Carnview Farms Clay Target Shooting Complex is widely recognized as Northern Ireland’s premier shooting facility, offering an elite environment for both recreational shooters and competitive marksmen. Established in 1996 by local farmer and shooting enthusiast James McKeown, the complex is situated in the scenic countryside of County Antrim, approximately 30 minutes from Belfast. It combines professional Olympic-grade standards with a welcoming, family-run atmosphere, serving as a central hub for the shooting community in the region.
The complex features 19 specialized layouts designed to accommodate a comprehensive array of international and national shooting disciplines :
Skeet: 4 National Skeet and 4 Olympic Skeet layouts.
Trap: 4 Down the Line (DTL), 4 Automatic Ball Trap (ABT), and 2 Olympic Trap layouts.
Sporting: 1 Compak Sporting layout for simulated game experiences.
Educational excellence is a core pillar of the facility, with private coaching provided by ISSF-qualified instructors who tailor sessions to all skill levels. Specialized initiatives like the "Carnview Junior Shots" program offer young shooters aged 12–18 a safe and affordable entry into the sport for £20, which includes equipment, coaching, and lunch. Additionally, the "Shoot Like A Lady" initiative fosters a supportive community for female participants, emphasizing social engagement alongside skill development.
For group activities, Carnview Farms is a high-demand venue for corporate team building, stag and hen parties, and family gatherings. The facility leverages clay shooting to enhance professional skills such as leadership, strategy, and communication. Social groups benefit from a structured experience that includes safety briefings, expert tuition, and friendly competitions, often concluded with catering in the club's heated clubhouse.
Technically, the range is equipped with state-of-the-art Promatic and Laporte traps, ensuring high-speed precision and reliability in all weather conditions. A standout feature is the site's commitment to inclusivity; the entire complex is surfaced with asphalt to ensure it is fully wheelchair accessible, complemented by dedicated disabled-friendly facilities. Off the range, visitors can relax in a clubhouse featuring a soft seating area, pool table, and refreshment zone.
