WTC St. Moritz is a premium, high-altitude clay pigeon shooting facility located in the Swiss Alps near Lake Lej Falcun, situated on the grounds of the former Olympic ski jump (Olympiaschanze). Positioned at an altitude of approximately 1,820 meters, the range offers an extreme alpine topography and reduced air density. These unique geographical factors create highly challenging ballistic conditions and complex optical illusions, making it a sought-after destination for elite athletes, dedicated hunters, and beginners alike.
The infrastructure is highly advanced, specifically tailored for Compak Sporting and Trap disciplines. The main facility operates 18 automated Compak machines controlled by the Italian MultiPull acoustic release system, ensuring precise target launches. Additionally, there is a dedicated three-machine area strictly for beginners, ensuring safety and comfort. To protect the local environment, the range strictly enforces the use of soft iron (steel) shot only, with a maximum load of 28g for Compak and 24g for Trap.
A major highlight of WTC St. Moritz is its elite training program led by Bruno Achermann. As the only Swiss instructor holding a diploma from the prestigious British Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), Achermann provides world-class coaching. His methodology focuses on precise gun fitting, psychological resilience, and constructive feedback without discouraging the shooter. The range offers diverse training options, including beginner "all-inclusive" packages, specialized courses for hunters simulating various game flights (such as hare, pheasant, and snipe), and advanced coaching for professionals.
The club operates a highly concentrated summer season, hosting numerous local, national, and international competitions. Major events include the two-day Beretta Gold Cup (200 targets), cantonal hunting championships, and exclusive club trophies like the Coppa Gallo Alpino and Coppa Dorigo. Beyond professional sports, the facility offers exclusive half-day rentals for corporate team-building events and special shooting sessions specifically arranged for guests of its seven luxury partner hotels.
The club is deeply integrated with the local premium hospitality sector. Visitors can relax at the on-site clubhouse, "Ristorante Peppino's", which serves traditional Italian cuisine and regional specialties from Valtellina and Val Poschiavo. This combination of elite sport, breathtaking scenery, and excellent gastronomy creates a unique recreational cluster.
