Anglesey Clay Target Shooting Club is an elite shooting facility located within the beautiful 1,200-acre Presaddfed Estate in Bodedern, Holyhead, Wales. Set within 8 acres of picturesque birch woodland and undulating countryside, this premier venue offers an exceptional experience for absolute beginners, licensed clay shooters, and experienced game hunters alike. Shooting Infrastructure
The shooting ground is meticulously designed to provide diverse shooting experiences with high towers, doubles, and flushes. It caters to practice sessions and lessons with highly qualified instruction, all hosted in a welcoming, scenic environment. Key facilities and disciplines available on-site include:
National Skeet and ISU Skeet featuring a dedicated layout
English Sporting layouts with various stands scattered throughout the woodland, regularly changed to offer fresh and challenging targets
High-quality automatic traps capable of simulating various bird flights and complex target configurations
A comfortable club cabin (Cosy Cabin) offering refreshments, hot food, snacks, and drinks
Simulated Driven Game Days
During the spring and summer season from March to September, the school organizes highly popular Simulated Game Days across the vast estate, replicating authentic driven game shooting. These events are highly recommended for experienced guns and are designed for social or corporate gatherings. The package details are:
Recommended for a minimum of 8 experienced guns at a cost of £180 per person
Fully catered itinerary including bacon baps on arrival, midday lunch with drinks, and concluding with afternoon tea
Multiple morning and afternoon drives mimicking pheasant, duck, and woodcock flight paths across the estate's wooded valleys
The infamous "Last Gun Standing" drive where all shooters line up and fire continuously at a relentless stream of clays until their cartridges run out
Instruction and Group Services
The club offers fully inclusive introductory lessons for both adults and juniors, providing all necessary equipment, safety gear, shotguns, and cartridges. Private lessons are led by experienced instructors, such as Tim Garner, ensuring that newcomers learn correct and safe techniques. For groups and corporate events, the school can comfortably accommodate up to 40 guests and organize custom packages. Furthermore, visitors looking for an extended stay can enjoy premium accommodation in the 17th-century Presaddfed Hall, which features 10 individually appointed double bedrooms with en-suite facilities, or camp at the nearby Druid's Rest campsite.
Pricing and Licensing Requirements
The club maintains transparent pricing divided between practice sessions for licensed shotgun certificate holders and fully inclusive packages. Please note that license holders can practice without prior booking, while beginners must book lessons in advance. Standard pricing rates include:
English Sporting: £19 for 50 targets / £38 for 100 targets for adults, and £15 for juniors (50 targets)
National/ISU Skeet: £9.50 for 25 targets, £19 for 50 targets, and £38 for 100 targets
Introductory Lessons: £70 per person for both adults and juniors, inclusive of 25 clays, cartridges, shotgun hire, and instruction
Cartridges: Shotgun license is strictly required for independent cartridge purchases
