Brandon Wood Clay Shooting is a premier shooting facility set within 30 acres of picturesque Lincolnshire countryside, featuring a blend of woodlands and lakes that provide a diverse and challenging environment for enthusiasts. Originally designed by multiple world champion George Digweed, the ground has seen significant modernization since 2016 under the management of Mark Crane, including the installation of all-new Bowman traps and the construction of a high-specification clubhouse. The venue is particularly renowned for its realistic field sport simulations, utilizing unique terrain features like grouse butts and its famous 90-foot-high pheasant tower.
The facility caters to all skill levels through a comprehensive instruction program led by Phil Thomas, a CPSA Level 1 Instructor with over 30 years of experience and a distinguished competitive background with the RAF team. Training options range from starter lessons for absolute beginners to advanced mentoring for competitive shooters, and even specialized in-the-field instruction for game shooters. The ground operates on a professional yet welcoming basis, requiring no prior booking for regular rounds while maintaining a strict "one-way" safety system for all visitors.
For those seeking a competitive or group experience, Brandon Wood offers highly structured Simulated Game Days and Corporate Shoot Days. The simulated game packages are designed for 15 to 21 guns and feature four separate drives presenting approximately 4,000 clays that mimic high pheasant, partridge, and grouse. Corporate events are equally robust, providing full equipment, professional tuition, and organized team competitions suitable for groups of 20 to 50 participants.
Hospitality is a core pillar of the Brandon Wood experience, centered around a modern clubhouse with covered outside decking and full catering facilities. Guests are treated to high-quality meals sourced from local Lincolnshire suppliers, including breakfast cobs, "elevenses" during simulated days, and traditional high tea to close the session. The facility has consistently maintained high hygiene standards, as reflected in its very good ratings from the Food Standards Agency.
Environmentally and operationally, the ground adheres to strict standards to ensure sustainability and safety. Since May 2022, a mandatory "fibre wads only" policy has been in place to protect the local ecosystem. Additionally, the ground employs a sophisticated Shooting Noise Management Plan to minimize impact on the surrounding villages of Stubton and Fenton, utilizing acoustic modeling to adjust activities based on wind direction and time of day.
