Wedgnock Clay Shooting Ground, operated by Adventure Sports Warwick, is one of the Midlands' most historic and expansive shooting venues, spanning over 100 acres of the Warwickshire countryside. Established for over a century, the ground serves as a premier destination for both recreational and competitive shooting, catering to everyone from absolute beginners (minimum age 13) to seasoned licensed athletes. Its strategic location near the M40 and Warwick town center makes it easily accessible from major hubs like Birmingham and Coventry.
The facility is renowned for its diverse shooting layouts and high level of automation. It features an extensive 18-stand English Sporting course, alongside specialized layouts for Down The Line (DTL), Skeet, and Sportrap. A standout feature is the 100ft High Tower, which provides a significant challenge by simulating extreme high-bird flights. All stands are integrated with the Claymate RFID system, allowing for seamless, automated target tracking, while professional-grade Promatic and Laporte traps ensure consistent and varied target presentations.
Infrastructure at Wedgnock is purpose-built for all-weather comfort. Most sporting stands are covered, and the ground is interconnected by hard-standing paths to ensure accessibility even during wet seasons. For winter operations, the venue utilizes three floodlit layouts to facilitate evening shooting. The on-site clubhouse offers a comfortable retreat with complimentary tea and coffee, seating, and specialized meeting rooms that can be hired for corporate events or private parties for up to 50 guests.
The coaching staff at Wedgnock is led by highly qualified CPSA and APSI senior instructors. The founder and director, Steve Richardson, brings over 30 years of industry experience and is a recognized Kennel Club 'A Panel' judge with an extensive record of over 100 Field Trial awards. Beginners can benefit from comprehensive experience packages (20, 30, or 40 clays) that include 1-to-1 tuition, gun hire, and all necessary safety equipment.
For organizations and social groups, the venue offers a multi-activity platform. Clay shooting can be integrated into larger team-building events including quad biking, 4x4 off-roading, karting, and archery. The ground regularly hosts prestigious events such as the 20th Annual Midlands Rook and Rabbit competition and has previously served as the host venue for the National Masonic Clay Championships.
