Garlands Shooting Ground

Tamworth , United Kingdom

Garlands Shooting Ground is widely recognized as the premier destination for clay pigeon shooting in the heart of the Midlands. Situated on the expansive Raddle Farm in Edingale, Staffordshire, it combines over 40 years of heritage with modern, high-tier facilities. The venue serves as both a training hub for the English national team and an accessible starting point for novices, making it a comprehensive center for country sports.

The ground is world-renowned for its technical course layouts, many of which are designed by the award-winning Steve Lovatt. Because of this expertise, Garlands is a frequent host for major national championships, including the British Sporting Championships and the English Open Super Sporting. Its signature "High Tower" and varied terrain—incorporating woods, ponds, and open fields—provide challenging, realistic flight simulations that test even the most experienced shots.

Key Shooting Disciplines:

  • English Sporting (ESP): The primary focus with diverse layouts.

  • Automatic Ball Trap (ABT) & Skeet (ESK): Standard competition layouts.

  • Compac Sporting & Sportrap: Dynamic, fast-paced target presentations.

  • High Tower: Mimicking high-flying game like pheasants.

  • Rifle Zeroing: Dedicated 100m and 100-yard ranges for rifle enthusiasts.

Innovation is central to the Garlands experience, featuring the Promatic "Plug and Play" system. This automation allows shooters to practice solo with built-in delays or as a group without the need for manual button-pushing. The ground also boasts one of the largest retail presences in the UK, with nearly 1,000 shotguns, rifles, and air rifles on display, allowing customers to test equipment directly on the stands.

Infrastructure and Amenities:

  • Gun Shop: Massive inventory featuring brands like Blaser, Beretta, and Browning.

  • Restaurant & Bar: Serving full English breakfasts and up to four-course lunches.

  • Coaching School: Expert tuition for all ages, including specialized junior lessons.

  • Corporate Events: Tailored packages for team building, including refreshments and instruction.

  • Logistics: On-site parking and caravan spaces available by arrangement.

For those looking to enter the sport or refine their competitive edge, Garlands offers a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere with a professional social vibe. The facility manages to balance the high stakes of CPSA-registered competitions with the relaxed nature of a weekend family outing, ensuring every visitor finds a layout suited to their skill level.
